1. What metals do you use in your jewelry?


Our jewelry is available in your choice of Platinum, 18 karat rose gold, 18 karat yellow gold or 18 karat white gold. Many of our pieces can be made in a combination of more than one metal, which results in a unique two-tone piece.

2. Where is the jewelry made?


All the jewellery is designed and handmade in Belgium by Salima Thakker herself.
Special stones are selected from all over the world but polished and cut exclusively in Idar-Oberstein or Antwerp.

3. Are the diamonds/stones always included with the ring? What if I already have my own diamond/stones?


We give you the option to supply your own stone(S).
Once you have your stone we would be happy to set it into the ring for you.

Stones from private clients will be checked thoroughly by our setter before inserting into a piece of jewellery. We may and will refuse to set any stone that seems unstable or that shows any risk.
We cannot take any responsibility for damages caused by setting.

4. Sizes

Rings:
European size 49 - 59
When purchasing rings, we strongly recommend that you visit your local jewelry shop to have your finger measured.

Chains
Pendants come with forsa chains in two lengths: 40-45 cm and 55-60 cm
Bracelets are available in 3 sizes
SM: 16.5 cm
MED: 17.5 cm
L: 18.5 cm

5. In what currency are the prices?

All prices are in Euro, including VAT.

6. What countries do you ship to?

We ship your jewellery to any EU country.
Shipments will be registered and made by BePost in Belgium or Federal Express.
The shipping expenses will be added to your invoice: 
•    Belgium 15 euro
•    European Union 35 euro
•    Swiss and UK 65 euro  
Shipments outside the EU countries will be taken care of by specialized couriers and will be charged differently:
•    USA 95 euro
•    UAE 95 euro

7. Will I be charged tax or duty?

BELGIUM BTW/VAT (21%) is applied to orders dispatched to any EU country.
For all other destinations, prices are excluding VAT.
As the recipient you are responsible for all import duties, tax and administration charges that may be applied by your local customs.
These charges are subject to the type of country.
If you are unsure we would recommend you contact your local customs office for more information.

8. Is it safe to order on www.salimathakker.com?

Yes, it is safe to order on www.salimathakker.com. We use industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving customer data exchanged with our site server.
At www.salimathakker.com we respect your privacy, and we will only disclose your personal information as described in our privacy policy.

9. How do I place an order?

Once you have found the item you would like to purchase, kindly send us an email with your selection at info@salimathakker.com

And of course by planning a visit to our shop, where we will be happy to further assist you.

11. How will I know if my chosen item is ethically sourced?

Salima Thakker uses ethically sourced precious metals and stones for the jewellery.
We are confident that all of the diamonds we use are conflict free and are obtained in a socially responsible manner. We only do business with vendors that adhere to the Kimberly Process. Due to our high quality standards, our gemologists individually select each diamond or precious stone. We go to extraordinary measures to ensure that our stones are finely selected. The diamonds we select have an excellent cut grade and are at least G color, VS clarity. If you have a diamond quality preference, we can usually accommodate special requests. We can provide certificates for diamonds and precious stones from renowned institutes. (HRD/GIA)

12. What if I need extra help or advice about my purchase?

If you need any assistance on selecting an item, you may set up an in-store consultation, by contacting us by email or just a phone call.
We will contact you within 2 working days to schedule an appointment and to answer any questions.

13. How long will my order take to arrive?

Your order will be processed as soon as we receive your payment .
If you have purchased an item, we aim to post your order within three to five working days. For our customized jewellery, most clients receive their finished jewellery within four to six weeks, but let us know if you need yours sooner and we'll let you know whether we can meet your deadline. We endeavour to provide an exceptional and friendly service to all our clients. We will notify you by e-mail when your order is ready to be shipped.

14. How is my gift packaged?

All gifts arrive in the Salima Thakker black box, tied with black/golden ribbon, securely packed in outer packaging. Shopping bags are reserved for in-store purchases only.  

15. Can I exchange my order for completely different items?

If you are exchanging for items with a lesser value we will not refund the difference, but we can hand out a coupon for the remaining amount.
 If you would like to exchange for items with a higher value, you will need to request a refund on the original order and place a new order for the replacement items of higher value.
We will refund your original purchase as soon as we receive the goods back.

16. How can I exchange or return my merchandise

Articles are accepted for refund or exchange if returned by mail to our Registered office/workshop,
or delivered in person to our Antwerp store in perfect condition within 7 days after the delivery date, accompanied by your original packaging and documentation.   Simply return the items back to us, ensuring that the items are securely packaged, so as not to be damaged in transit.
We also recommend that you use an insured courier service with signature on delivery.
Salima Thakker will not be liable for returns that fail to arrive.    
Before returning your items to us, please check:
• The items for return are unworn, in re-saleable condition, complete with all swing tags & packaging
• You have included your original invoice.
We recommend that you send us a quick email at info@salimathakker.com we can put the replacement item aside for you or if needed we can produce the item.

17. How long will it take to process my refund?

We aim to process all refunds within 48 hours of receiving the returned items.
We will send you a confirmation email to notify you we have refunded your card.
Please note: that refunds can take up to 10 days to credit on your account statement, dependent on the card issuer.

18. How can I have my jewellery altered or repaired?

We alter and repair Salima Thakker items only.
You may bring your item to the store or send your item in via mail.
If you choose to send your item in via mail, please follow the instructions below:  
- Send the item, via an insured shipping method to the address stated on the form.  
- After we have received and assessed the work needed, we will send you a free estimate.

19. Product care

Have a quick look at how your jewellery will remain in great condition, see below for some tips on how best to care for it.
•    Always try to store you jewellery in its original packaging or a jewellery box.
•    Avoid wearing your jewellery when exercising, playing sport, swimming or gardening to prevent knocking or scratching. 
•    Avoid contact with hard or abrasive surfaces.
•    Always remove your jewellery when cleaning to prevent scratching and damage by household chemicals. 
 •    Always remove rings in the shower or bath or when applying soap or other body products as they can leave a film on the jewellery.  
To clean silver, use a soft cloth or a silver polishing cloth in anti- varnish bag or pouch.
Alternatively you can leave your jewellery to soak in a bowl of warm water with a mild liquid detergent before cleaning with a soft bristle toothbrush.
Rinse under running water and use a soft cloth to dry the piece.
This also applies to gold and platinum jewellery.
Check regularly for signs of wear and tear as stone settings can become loose over time.
About rhodium plating: Some of our precious metals are rhodium plated to create brighter, whiter or blacker finish.
This can be susceptible to wear over long periods.
If this does occur, please contact info@salimathakker.com and we will organise a re-finish for your jewellery.
This will be a free service for the first year within date of purchase.
To protect your rhodium jewellery you must avoid using chemical cleaners and follows the cleaning and care instructions above to maintain its shine.
About matt finishes: A piece of jewellery with a matt finish may take on a polished appearance over time.
A polished suface may become more mat. We can always arrange a re-finish.
This will be a free service for the first year within date of purchase.

20. Is all Salima Thakker merchandise available for purchase online?

www.salimathakker.com features an extensive collection of Salima Thakker merchandise. Our online offering may differ from that of our retail store. We continually review and refresh our online merchandise offering. Though not all jewelry is sold through our website, you are welcome to visit or contact the store in case of special demand or to place a phone order.

Salima Thakker personally responds to the majority of enquiries, though it may be a member of the team, but either way we will endeavour to answer you as soon as possible.
Most enquiries are usually responded to within one or two day.
